Anti-Viral Studies

Our Lab focus on developing Antiviral drugs that target various stages of the viral life cycle to inhibit viral replication and reduce the severity of viral infections. Especially the Viral Entry Inhibitors, Protease inhibitors, Methyltransferase Inhibitors, and the host factors the virus relies on for replication. In the COVID-19 pandemic, designing drugs to target SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic involves identifying specific viral components or processes essential for its replication and then developing compounds that can inhibit or interfere with these targets. Besides SARS-CoV-2, our lab works on DENGUE, ZIKV, and Monkeypox virus to report molecular-level insights into the drug targets. Currently running projects are in the DENGUE NS1 drug target and the role of selectins in the platelet count decrease due to dengue infections.
